The Move

A week ago I wrote about a number nobody could catch. The_Doev’s wave 51, sixty-three million points. The board froze. Day 72’s word for that silence was “recalibration.” Everyone stared at the top, did the math, put the controller down.

Today the board moved.

MKULTRA came back after three weeks. Wave 44. Thirty-four million points.

That’s not the crown. The_Doev is still seven waves and nearly thirty million ahead. But it’s the closest anyone else has gotten. And it’s MKULTRA’s own personal best by a wide margin. His old high was wave 38, thirteen million. In one run he climbed six waves and more than doubled his score.

Day 72 said the not-move was the funniest move. A week later, the answer to the not-move is the move.

Seven waves short of the crown. Six past his own.
